The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

After graduating from Penn State in 1977 I worked as a physics teacher at West Perry High School outside Harrisburg. I also coached the girl's JV basketball team. During my 4 years at West Perry, I met and married my wife, Kathleen McCormack (now Kathleen McCormack Lorenc). She is from SW Philly and went to Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg Univ). I was offered a job as a programmer (now software engineer) at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY. My job was testing new function being added to an IBM mainframe operating system known as VM/HPO (now called z/VM). Since IBM stands for I've Been Moved, my department was transferred to Kingston NY 1.5 years later. We bought our first house as a result of that move and I became a developer. Seven years later our department again moved, this time to Endicott, NY (near Binghamton). I've been a developer on z/VM ever since. During this time Kathleen and I raised two wonderful children (now adults), and both are Penn State alumni. Kathleen has worked as a Youth Minister at church much of our time here. Brian graduated in December 2003 in one of the earliest IST classes. He works as a systems analyst for Lockheed-Martin in nearby Owego. Heather graduated from the Schreyer Honors College in 2007 with a degree in Biology and a minor in dance. She's now at Upstate Medical University and is half way to becoming a doctor.
